The Merlin Blackbird Jet Helmet in Carbon Matt is an open-face helmet that doesn't look like one. Its 3K carbon fibre shell sits lower on the brow than most jet helmets – a deliberate design decision that creates a sleeker, more flattering profile and a more secure fit, rather than the high-riding look that makes many open-face helmets feel like an afterthought. The result is a helmet that suits both urban riding and the retro aesthetic without compromising on either.
Carbon Matt is the right finish for a carbon shell – the weave pattern reads clearly under the matte surface, giving the helmet a purposeful, technical look that gloss paint would cover up.
Shell & Construction
The lightweight 3K carbon fibre shell is bonded with military-grade resin – the same construction approach as the Merlin Revival, applied to a carbon shell that delivers a meaningful weight reduction over fibreglass at the same structural integrity. Shaped to an intermediate oval profile for a comfortable, secure fit across the most common head shape for UK and European riders.
Certified to ECE 22.06 – the current European standard for motorcycle helmets, fully road legal in the UK.
Goggle & Visor Compatibility
Front studs and a rear leather button strap allow the Blackbird to be paired with goggles or snap-on visors (sold separately), giving you weather protection and eye coverage options without committing to a fixed visor. It's the open-face setup that actually works across different riding conditions rather than just fair-weather use.
Interior & Fit
The premium leather and Amara liner is fully removable and washable, keeping the interior fresh across extended use. The liner includes a sunglasses slot that accommodates eyewear without pressure on the temples – a detail that matters on longer rides. Retention is via a traditional double D-ring buckle for a secure, reliable fit that holds its position.

Product Availability:
Product availability is shown on all products. Where a product states 'Coming Soon - Dispatched in X Days', this is the expected lead time before stock is delivered to our store. The delivery method you choose will not affect this lead time and only relates to the delivery service we use once the product has been delivered to us.
Custom Charges
If you are ordering goods for delivery outside the UK, please note that your consignment may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once the goods reach the country of destination. Any such charges levied in relation to customs clearance must be paid by you. It is accepted by you that Maidstone Harley-Davidson has no control over additional charges in relation to customs clearance. Maidstone Harley-Davidson recommends that you check with your local customs officials or post office for more information regarding importation taxes/duties that may be applicable to your online order. You will be the importer of record and responsible for any import VAT and duty that needs to be paid. In addition, any charges for import clearance will be paid by you, the customer. Refunds of any returned order will be of the items only, not the services incurred.
Maidstone Harley-Davidson uses Royal Mail for smaller items and DHL for larger items (UK Shipping only)
Royal Mail deliveries are sent using the most appropriate service based on the value, size and weight of the parcel. If your item has not arrived within 5 working days on either service then please contact us by email shop@mshd.co.uk.
We also offer timed delivery services for faster delivery, which incur an additional charge over our standard delivery charges (£3.95 for orders below £60, free for orders over £60). All available delivery options are displayed during checkout.
Collect in-store:
Orders for in-store collection are FREE to collect, and are usually ready the same day, however there may occasionally be delays. A notification will be sent to you when your order is ready.
Please collect your items between 10am-5pm, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays. NOTE: Our store is currently closed on Wednesdays & Sundays. Orders placed on these days will be available for collection on the following working day.
Returns & refunds:
Your right to cancel and return begins from when you place the order and ends 14 working days from when you received the goods. If you wish to cancel or return your order you must inform us by email at shop@mshd.co.uk within this time frame. The buyer is responsible for paying the return postage and ensuring the goods are received back by us in as new condition. If you receive a faulty or broken item, you will be offered either a choice of a refund or replacement. Any return postage costs if an item is faulty or broken will be paid by harleydavidsondirect.co.uk
